These pieces comprise of individual components – some of which are antique - that are sourced and acquired from elsewhere in Africa. Imported African components include handcrafted ornamental metal beads, gems, recycled glass beads, bone beads and other natural materials. African craftsmen and women derive a vital income from the trading of these wares. The creative fusion of elegant design elements applied to original, bold and earthy ornaments, produce dramatic pieces that assume a character far beyond the sum total of their components.
Description: The Adornment Africa designer would also, from time to time, venture beyond the borders of Africa, by introducing limited Eastern or Western components to her pieces. This sharp contrasting certainly does not alter the essential African identity of these select items. It, however, accentuates the lustre of the African strain in a manner that could lead one to believe that its true essence had previously been dormant.
